Women's Institute ‘deep regret’ as it bans trans women from joining after Supreme Court ruling
Transgender women will be banned from joining the Women's Institute from April next year, with the organisation saying it “had had no other choice” following the Supreme Court ruling.
The decision, which overturns a 40-year-old policy, has been taken "with the utmost regret and sadness", it said, adding that it retained the "firm belief that transgender women are women"

Sharp rise in referrals exposes widespread failure by UK employers to address the existence modern slavery

Oxford University resignations prompt calls for EHRC investigation
A third senior academic at the University of Oxford has resigned over allegations of harassment and inappropriate conduct, prompting calls for the equalities watchdog to intervene.
John Tasioulas, former director of the Institute of Ethics in AI, was one of the academics named in a nine-month investigation into misconduct at Oxford conducted by Bloomberg, which claimed the university “has failed women” over their harassment concerns.
