New research from Vlerick Business School, Emlyon Business School, and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz finds that women reach top executive roles 2.5 years earlier than men on average, but their tenure is typically shorter.

Law Society launches new EDI strategy

The strategy is the result of a robust foundation of member engagement, external expertise, and extensive, up-to-date research and analysis, the Law Society said.​ Over 220 people from across the society’s communities, networks, committees and the wider profession were invited to share their views through focus groups and interviews.

Neuro-inclusion: back-to-office policies challenge neurodiversity

One in seven people in the UK are neurodiverse, according to the Local Government Association, meaning that they experience the world differently from their peers. For many neurodivergent people, everyday working life can be a challenge. 

Last year, UK employment tribunals issued 278 judgements against employers for discriminating against neurodivergent workers – a stark increase from the three issued in 2016. The rise appears to be partly due to the insensitive handling of return-to-the-office (RTO) mandates.

UK is performing well for workplace inclusion but challenges persist

Inclusive hiring practices are more popular than ever

 

The latest annual employer survey of 233 employers by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has found pro-EDI hiring practices are at their highest level since it began collecting data in 2022.

This, the REC argued, showed “employers are shifting from signalling about EDI to making it a foundation of their recruitment practices and setting out what they do”.
