Report: Access to medical careers still unequal for people from working-class backgrounds
King’s College London published research (10 September 2025) showing that having a parent in a professional occupation makes one ~six times more likely to become a doctor than someone from a working-class background. The study calls for more data collection on socioeconomic background across the medical profession and action to reduce these barriers.
