16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: A Call to Action
From 25 November to 10 December, the UN’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence shines a spotlight on harrowing statistics; as of 2023:
Every 10 minutes, a woman is intentionally killed by a partner or family member.
Nearly 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime.
1 in 4 adolescent girls faces abuse from their partners.
For too many women, gender-based violence culminates in one final, brutal act—their murder at the hands of those they should be able to trust.
The 16 Days of Activism is a chance for all of us—governments, organisations, and individuals—to recommit to ending this violence. We must demand accountability, implement change, and create a safer world for women and girls everywhere.
