Dr Barbara Brown is a Diversity & Inclusion Strategist with a strong portfolio of facilitating cultural change. She has occupied senior leadership roles within the public and charity sector and held responsibility for equality, inclusion, and diversity organisational outcomes, as well as strategic management and statutory performance improvement.
In addition to her work at Diverse Matters with its UK and global work, Barbara has also acted as a UK Senior Associate with another Global Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Consultancy as well as owning her own business. Barbara has spent a significant time working locally, nationally, and internationally within the public sector. Her doctorate supporting practice, exploring cultural norms which uphold discriminatory processes within hierarchal organisations. A self-confessed, systems ‘agitator’ she has a strong foundation in supporting others to contextualise inclusion into measurable organisational outcomes. Barbara has worked within the British Fire Service, where she has led national work-streams.
Barbara currently sits on the steering group the Research Action Coalition for Race Equality partnership with the University of Bristol and Black South West Network, and the EPSRC ED&I Fellowship in the Physical Sciences Advisory Board.
Barbara is an experienced Independent Investigator, conducting complex workplace investigations within the public and charity sector specialising in race and gender discrimination. She is an experienced executive coach.
