Julie is a consultant, trainer, facilitator and coach. She was an academic for over fourteen years (most recently at Northumbria University) before leaving to work independently in 2017. Since then, she has supported organisations in the private, public and charity sectors to enhance their diversity and inclusion.
Julie delivers training and consultancy on a broad suite of EDI topics, as well as bringing her specialist academic expertise in sex, gender and sexual orientation to her work. She has both taught and published peer-reviewed work in these areas. She is experienced in the design and execution of qualitative research, including conducting focus groups and interviews. Julie also worked as lead at Sunderland University on a successful application for an Athena SWAN Bronze Award, the Higher Education sector’s Charter Mark for Gender Equality.
Julie is an experienced facilitator of conversations around EDI, a panellist and panel facilitator. She holds an ILM-endorsed Certificate in Advanced Action Learning and an ILM Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring. Her PhD (2002) was in the representations of gender and sexuality in contemporary culture.
