Inclusion in schools/colleges

Inclusion is an increasingly important part of the government’s agenda and it is committed to ensuring that all pupils are integrated as far as possible into the daily life of schools and the local community.

The inclusion agenda and context has shifted from pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to those with the full range of barriers to learning including:

  • mental health issues
  • ethnicity and cultural issues
  • Gender/Gender identity
  • Learning difficulties

Diverse Matters and our partner Inspire Inclusion can deliver PSE lessons covering a wide range of equality, diversity and inclusion topics to children and young people of all ages.  We have over 15 years of working directly and indirectly with children, young people, senior managers and colleagues across the public sector, third sector and political sphere.

We can also deliver teacher training on the following issues: (this is not an exhaustive list)

  • An introduction to inclusion
  • Unconscious bias
  • Gender identity
  • The inclusive school
  • Equality and diversity
  • Managing diversity
  • LGBT+ young people
  • Trans awareness
  • Stress management
  • Cultural capability
