Sarah has 17 years’ experience of working in the accessibility and equality and diversity fields, including previous roles as London Underground’s Accessibility & Inclusion Development Manager and Customer Strategy Manager (Accessibility). She has been delivering independent consultancy services for a year and a half and has worked with a wide range of organisations, from large private sector organisations to small charities.
Sarah is passionate about working on projects which strive to address inequalities, celebrate diversity and remove barriers to access so that everyone has the opportunity to participate, achieve their potential and enjoy their life. Sarah’s area of specialism is accessibility and disability equality. Much of her consultancy work has been in relation to improving access to services and buildings for disabled people, including Access Audits for a range of types of buildings – including housing developments, offices, a university building and an airport – and policy reviews. Sarah is a strong advocate of the Social Model of Disability, which focuses on the way in which people with impairments are disabled by barriers within the environment and social structures, and this is at the heart of everything she does.
Sarah has an MA in Disability Studies from the University of Leeds, and a Level 4 Award in Managing Equality and Diversity in an Organisation from the Institute of Leadership and Management. She also holds qualifications in training and British Sign Language.
