Barbara Brown is a diversity strategist with a strong portfolio of facilitating cultural change. With experience across the private, public, education and voluntary sectors, she has spent the last 18 years working locally, nationally and internationally within and about the Fire Sector; concluding her work with PhD research concerning gender relationships.
Barbara is a self-confessed, systems ‘agitator’ with a strong foundation in working with hierarchical cultures. Her work has spanned the development of equality policy, strategy and framework practice across the Fire and Rescue Service where she has lead national work-streams. Barbara has held wide portfolios and has strong managerial and leadership experience, holding Management Board, Trustee roles to support the progression of gender and race equality. She is a trained coach, mediator and an intuitive mentor. Her EDI portfolio includes Further and Higher Educational establishments, the NHS, and public and private sector organisations.
